Choose for the truck and the job

Which forklift tire is right?

The right choice starts with your equipment, the load it carries, and the surface it runs on.

Solid rubber · Steel band

Cushion / press-on

Common on forklifts working on smooth indoor floors.

  • Rubber is bonded to a steel band and pressed onto the wheel.
  • Smooth, treaded, and non-marking versions depend on the application.
  • The tire and wheel dimensions must match the truck’s specifications.

Air-filled or solid rubber

Pneumatic & solid pneumatic

Often used for outdoor work and mixed operating surfaces.

  • Air-filled tires provide cushioning and need the correct inflation pressure.
  • Solid pneumatic tires use rubber instead of air, avoiding air-loss flats.
  • Tread, construction, load, and the approved rim all matter.

Poly tread · Metal core

Polyurethane wheels

Used on compatible electric warehouse trucks and pallet equipment.

  • Often used on smooth indoor floors.
  • The wheel position, load, and compound determine the right option.
  • Match the specified wheel; floor conditions and the work environment matter.

Illustrations show general tire types. Actual tires, wheels, and fitment vary.

Possible used options

Know when to ask for help

When is it time to replace tires?

Check your forklift before use. Wear, damage, and changes in how the truck rides are reasons to have the tires inspected.

Wear limit reached

Follow the tire maker’s wear line or replacement dimensions. A 60J / J-line applies to some solid tires; it is not a universal limit for every tire.

Damage or missing rubber

Look for chunks, deep cuts, cracks, separation, or exposed internal material.

A rough or uneven ride

Flat spots, uneven wear, or new vibration deserve inspection. Tread appearance alone does not tell the whole story on a solid tire.

Tire or wheel problems

Air loss on pneumatic tires, a damaged rim, or loose wheel hardware needs attention before the truck returns to work.

Unsafe tire or wheel? Stop using the forklift.

Take it out of service, identify it as unavailable under your workplace procedure, and report the problem. Have authorized personnel assess it before returning it to work.

A few common questions

Before we get started.

Can you change forklift tires at our shop?

Yes. Dairyland provides on-site forklift tire service and brings a mobile tire press for press work. Tell us the truck, tire size if known, and location so we can confirm fitment and plan the visit.

Do you offer both new and used tires?

We supply new forklift tires. Used options may also be available, depending on size, fitment, and condition. Ask what is available for your equipment when requesting service.

Can I switch to a different tire type?

Do not choose a different type by appearance alone. Truck design, wheel dimensions, load, and the operating surface all affect compatibility. We can help identify an option that fits the equipment’s specifications.
